Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the BOXY app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by David Collado Sela (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Freemium service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
Information Collection and Use
The Application collects information when you download and use it. This information may include information such as:
- Your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address)
- The pages of the Application that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages
- The time spent on the Application
- The operating system you use on your mobile device
The Application does not gather precise information about the location of your mobile device.
The Service Provider may use the information you provided to contact you from time to time to provide you with important information, required notices and marketing promotions.
For a better experience, while using the Application, the Service Provider may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information. The information that the Service Provider request will be retained by them and used as described in this privacy policy.
Third Party Access
Only aggregated usage data, transmitted without personal identifiers such as your name or email address, is periodically sent to external services to aid the Service Provider in improving the Application and their service. The Service Provider may share your information with third parties in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.
Please note that the Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policy about handling data. Below are the links to the Privacy Policy of the third-party service providers used by the Application:
Analytics
The Application uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how the Application is used and to improve it. This covers information such as which screens are opened, which features are used, and the type of device and operating system version.
No advertising identifier (IDFA) is collected, and no data is sold or shared with anyone for advertising purposes. The identifier used to recognise a device is hashed on your device before it is sent, so TelemetryDeck does not receive it in a readable form. Because that identifier stays the same between sessions, this information is pseudonymous rather than fully anonymous: it does not identify you by name, but it does allow activity from the same device to be counted as one user over time.
You can read how TelemetryDeck handles this data in their Privacy Policy.
Microphone and Speech Recognition
The Application lets you add items to a box by speaking instead of typing. The microphone is only used while you are actively recording an item, and the Application asks for your permission the first time. Your voice recordings are never saved and never shared with anyone else; only the resulting text is kept, as the name of the item you add.
Most of the time your speech is turned into text directly on your device, and the audio never leaves it. If your language is not supported for on-device transcription, the Application uses Apple's speech recognition service instead, which means the audio is sent to Apple to be turned into text. How Apple handles audio sent for transcription is explained in Apple's Speech Recognition & Dictation information.
iCloud Sync and Sharing
The Application stores your data in your own iCloud account so that it stays up to date across your devices. This is enabled by default and covers your categories, your boxes, the items inside them, their descriptions and tags, and any photos you add to items. This information is kept in your personal iCloud account rather than on servers run by the Service Provider, and the Service Provider cannot read it. If you would rather not use iCloud, you can turn it off for the Application in the iOS Settings app under your Apple Account.
The Application also lets you share a category with other people, such as family members or roommates. When you share a category, the boxes it contains, the items inside them and their photos become available through iCloud to the people you invite, and they can make changes to them. Depending on the option you choose when sharing, an invitation can be limited to the people you invite or opened to anyone who has the link. Sharing only happens when you choose to start it, and you can stop sharing at any time from the Application.
iCloud is provided by Apple. You can read how Apple handles this data in Apple's Privacy Policy.
